Turning on a light manually these days is for suckers. OK, that escalated real quick but when we live in the time that we can tell our phones to turn the lights on simply by using our voice, something as easy as flipping a switch becomes something of the past.

Philips is helping that movement even further by announcing a new Philips Hue motion sensor. Simply sync it to your existing smart-lighting setup and turn on your color-changing bulbs whenever you walk into a room.

You can stick to your wall, your bed, ceiling, anywhere you want it to catch something moving. It even has a built-in daylight sensor that helps conserve energy by triggering the lights only when you need them, something you won’t in other motion sensors.

Ry Crist of CNET breaks it down further:

The motion sensor is completely wireless, and runs on a pair of AAA batteries. You can pair up to 12 of them with the Philips Hue Bridge, then program which lights each one should control within the Philips Hue app. Once you’ve got everything set up, Philips promises that the lights will come on within a half-second of motion being detected.

The device will cost around $40 and will start shipping out in October. You can find it on the Philips Hue website as well as other retailers including Amazon.
