Review: The FireFly Vaporizer may not be the best, but it’s sure the sexiest

We got our hands on the coveted FireFly vaporizer. After a slight learning curve, we love it!

The Firefly is a unique kind of portable vaporizer. It’s stylish and very well designed, however, it has a bit of a learning curve. But once mastered, it’s quite an impressive unit. The Firefly is definitely a vaporizer to consider if you’re in the market for a high-end unit that produces great tasting vapor, while standing the test of time when it comes to durability.

First Impressions

The Firefly vaporizer comes in a really elegant box that looks like something you would find in the jewelry department of Macy’s. Upon opening the box, one of my first thoughts was that the unit resembles something from Star Trek as opposed to a vaporizer, thanks to its shiny exterior. Another point that stuck out to me upon picking it up is that it’s pretty heavy, but in a good way. It feels like it’s built to withstand a nuclear war and designed to out class its competition. However, I’ll be the judge of that.

Design

When they designed the Firefly, it seems like the designers and engineers did not hold back. It is one of the most attractive looking portable vaporizers I’ve come across in the market. With that said, not only is it gorgeous but its design is very functional. The Firefly comes in 3 colors: dark gray, red, and silver.

The Firefly is built like a German tank, and whenever you mention anything German, you know it’s built tough. With that being said, not only is it designed to last, it is also designed to give you excellent vapor quality.

Performance:

Firefly3

The Firefly is a convection style vaporizer for dry herbs. As with all convection vaporizers, hot air travels through your material as opposed to producing vapor by direct contact. And boy, does the Firefly do a good job at it!

The Firefly produces one of the best tasting vapors you can get from a portable vaporizer, and quite frankly, you could say it matches some of the desktop ones in this category too. The Firefly is quite easy to use once you’ve learned how to use it properly. One of the downsides to the Firefly that I noticed was the battery life. At 750mAh it doesn’t last to long at all. On the positive side, it takes about 45 minutes to charge, which is quite fast. You can also purchase additional batteries that I would totally recommend getting.

How to use:

The Firefly has a bit of a learning curve, but once you’ve mastered it, you’ll achieve its full potential. The first thing you want to do is remove the metallic cover that is held together by the device’s powerful magnets. Once removed, you will find the circular ceramic heating chamber. You can pack about .02 grams in it, and even though the chamber is small, it’s very efficient.

Pack it with your dry herbs and closed the lid. Next, slide the on button located on the side of the unit. You will notice a green light indicator at this point. Next, hold down the only other button for about 8-10 second to preheat your material. You can see your material heating up through its circular glass window.

This is when the Firefly comes alive! Last, without letting go of the button, take slow long pulls. The Firefly heats up in seconds and tops off at about 400F degrees.

Final Verdict:

Firefly1

I was quite impressed with the Firefly’s design and performance. It produces great quality tasting vapor and it is one of best-built portable vaporizers in today’s market.

In my opinion, even though it is considered portable, I feel that due to its short battery life and size, it would be best suited to use at home. With that said, I would recommend the Firefly to any enthusiast that is more interested in the quality and taste of the vapor above all. At $259 it is considered a higher end vaporizer. Oh, and did I mention that is comes with a 5 year limited warranty just in case anything goes wrong.
