The last few months have been difficult for Microsoft Exchange administrators. Malicious hackers have succeeded in breaching the Exchange’s built-in security layer, which has put the data of tens of thousands of companies at risk.

While this has not affected Microsoft 365 users, it has created the need for third-party security solutions that businesses can use to protect their files, emails, and contact details. Today we’ll take a closer look at the Hornetsecurity 365 Total Protection security solution.

What Is Hornetsecurity 365 Total Protection?

The 365 Total Protection solution from Hornetsecurity is a product designed to help individuals and companies that use the Microsoft 365 business environment. 365 Total Protection is, at its core, an additional security layer that companies can use to protect their files, emails, and other data.

Hornetsecurity offers three editions: 365 Total Protection Business, 365 Total Protection Enterprise, and 365 Total Protection Enterprise Backup.

User Experience and Protection Efficiency

The 365 Total Protection solution is cloud-based. This allows it to perform well regardless of local conditions and equipment. Furthermore, all three editions can be scaled up without losing anything in terms of ease of use.

Whether administrators have to manage 50 Microsoft 365 users or 5000, they shouldn’t find it difficult to keep track of everything.

All three 365 Total Protection editions offer a simple yet effective interface that doesn’t require additional training to use. All navigation and feature commands are clear and intuitive.

As far as protection efficiency is concerned. Keep in mind that the Hornetsecurity 365 Total Protection relies on AI to protect a users’ data. In other words, it constantly evolves based on potential threats that it detects across its entire user base.

In the short time I had to test out Hornetsecurity’s 365 Total Protection solution, these are the features I found most useful:

Email Live Tracking and Infomail Handling

The 365 Total Protection packages offer Email Live Tracking, ensuring that all of your messages and attachments are monitored for potential security threats.

Also integrated into the security tool is an Infomail Filter that blocks the delivery of emails that are tagged as info mail or newsletters.

Content Control

All three service packages offer a Content Control feature. This enables administrators to set up specific company policies that control what files can be sent and by whom.

Furthermore, the function also offers protection against intrusion, making it easy to protect private company data from unauthorized users.

Spam and Malware Filter

The 365 Total Protection packages offer protection against spam and malware emails by automatically filtering all received messages and defending users against threats.

Global S/MIME & PGP Encryption

365 Total Protection automatically encrypts all email communication in order to block unauthorized users from intercepting messages or making modifications to existing ones.

This essentially helps protect company data from various forms of spying or sabotage.

Pricing and Service Types

The price of Hornetsecurity 365 Total Protection depends on the type of subscription that you choose and the number of Microsoft 365 user accounts that you want to protect.

The 365 Total Protection Business subscription comes with a £1.75 tag for every 365 user that you add and only includes basic features like Email Live Tracking, Infomail Handling, a Compliance Filter, and the Websafe system.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, there is the 365 Total Protection Enterprise Backup subscription that charges £5.00 per Microsoft 365 user but offers a wider variety of protections and features, including Forensic Analyses, Email Archiving, the ATP Sandbox Engine, and backup and recovery of M365 data including mailboxes, Teams chats, SharePoint and OneDrive document libraries.
