The Battlefield V reveal trailer reminds us that there is more to gaming than just battle royale

October 19th needs to get here quicker.

The Battlefield V reveal trailer recently dropped, and woah.

Set to release on October 19th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Battlefield V takes place during World War II and will focus on smaller stories that build on a bigger universe.

Rumors have spread around a battle royale mode in the game, and while that may still be on the table, there will not be one present at release. Instead, DICE, the developer on the project, is expanding on their Operations mode, with something called Last Stand.

Last Stand still gives some of the permanence of a battle royale game, in that when you die, you don’t respawn. This new feature will be a part of the expanded Operations mode, being called Grand Operations.

After some pretty huge issues with Battlefront II and their monetization strategies, DICE is working hard to show gamers that these will not be issues present in the new WWII shooter. In fact, they are even eliminating their Premium Pass, stating that any future maps and game modes will be available to all players. Good on ya, team.

For me, personally, the last Battlefield game from DICE, Battlefield 1, was one of the more enjoyable first-person shooters in recent memory, so there is a lot of hype for the new offering over here at KT.
