Amazon continues its device deals today, with the 2nd-gen Echo Dot back down to $29.99 for Prime members. You can save even more if you’re buying multiples, adding two to your cart gets you an extra $10 off bringing your total to $49.98. This pricing is only good today, however, so don’t miss out on the chance to Alexa-fy your home.
That gets you access to Alexa, even from across the room thanks to its seven far-field microphones that work in even the noisiest environments. Call Alexa to help as a kitchen assistant, or for help setting alarms for the next morning. She can even read you audio books, play music, and be used as an in-home intercom to call the kids of all ages down for dinner.
The Echo Dot can also send messages to other phones, either as texts or voice messages. Alexa can integrate with IoT smart devices from a huge range of manufacturers, so your voice is all you need to change the temperature on the A/C or turn off that light in the other room. With Alexa Skills she can play Jeopardy! with you, help track your fitness goals or any number of other useful things.
She can also read stories to your kids, and help them learn manners. Not that she’s a parenting substitute, just that every bit helps.
