Samsung recently unveiled its Project Moohan XR headset, which is designed for an advanced virtual and augmented reality experience.
It looks like Samsung is also working on a pair of smart glasses, which are expected to launch by the end of this year.
Currently being developed under the codename “HAEAN,” these smart glasses are reportedly in the final stages of development.
One of the most interesting aspects of these glasses is that they will come equipped with cameras, making them more than just a simple display device.
While detailed specifications are still under wraps, some reports from South Korea, including ET News, suggest that Samsung’s smart glasses will include a 12-megapixel camera.
This camera will be powered by Sony’s IMX681 CMOS image sensor, which is known for capturing high-quality images.
The built-in camera will allow the glasses to do some impressive tasks, such as scanning QR codes, recognizing hand gestures, and even identifying faces.
Additionally, the glasses are expected to have two processors: one main processor from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 platform and a secondary processing chip from NXP.
This dual-chip setup is similar to what Apple uses in its Vision Pro headset. They are expected to weigh around 150 grams, making them lightweight, and will have a 155mAh battery.
One of the key features of these glasses will be their AI assistant. Samsung plans to integrate Google’s Gemini AI into the device, allowing users to interact with the glasses using voice commands and smart features.
Samsung’s smart glasses are said to be similar to the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses, which means they will likely focus on providing AI-powered smart features rather than full AR experiences.
The company is reportedly planning to produce an initial batch of 500,000 units, and we might get an official preview at Samsung’s Unpacked event in July.
