Screen time is something unique to this generation. Never before has there been so much readily available, unfettered access to technology. While this is a great thing for numerous reasons, it also has some pretty serious drawbacks. Many people are spending too much time staring at a screen and it is really starting to affect their overall health.

The most common problem with too much screen time is computer vision syndrome, which can cause blurred vision, headaches, sensitivity to light, sore neck, and dry eyes. It might not sound that serious, but it can lead to permanent problems including vision loss.

A growing problem with too much screen time is revealing itself in the form of digital addiction. Winning at a video game causes the same release of dopamine as inhaling nicotine does. This can lead to addiction in those who are already prone to such behaviors, and thanks to our tech-driven world quitting isn’t always possible.

Setting reasonable limits to screen time for all members of the family can help reduce the likelihood of developing any of these serious maladies. Learn more about digital addiction and what you can do to stop it in its tracks from this infographic!
