Meet Nissan’s world’s first automated “intelligent parking chair”
If you’ve been eagerly itching for that next office-tech breakthrough of our lifetime, then you’re probably going to have to wait a little longer. Until then, check out Nissan’s newly unveiled “Intelligent Parking Chair.”
What is it exactly? It’s a self-driving office chair that’s capable of driving itself around a office and park itself away under a desk whenever it’s not in use.
How it works is pretty simple: The chair utilizes a number of cameras, a 360-degree swivel base, and the general principles of a self-driving car. A clap of the hands is all it takes to activate the chair. From there, it searches for a space at a table where it can park. However, in order for these chairs to work, four special sensor-laden cameras are required in each room, reports Business Insider.
Should you expect this in an office near you anytime soon? Probably not. It’s probably safe to say at this point of time, Nissan is just showing this off ass some marketing stunt or novelty. But hey, it’s still pretty gnarly.
