If you’re impatient as I am, then you’ll know the pure horror of having to wait 5-seconds before the skip button shows up on a YouTube pre-roll ad. Well, I’m about to burst your bubble because that 5-second pre-roll ad is turning into a whopping 6-second ad.
I know, the horror.
The company announced today that they’re rolling out this new ad format called bumper ads. As mentioned before, the videos will only be 6-seconds long and will be offered to mobile viewers.
In a blog post, here’s what Product Manager Zach Lupei had to say:
We like to think of Bumper ads as little haikus of video ads – and we’re excited to see what the creative community will do with them.
It’s not the end of the world or anything, but now users will have to wait 1-second longer to enjoy their favorite videos. To see a new bumper ad in action, check out the video above or by clicking here.
