Instagram has introduced a fun new feature called Instagram Blend that makes watching Reels with friends even more enjoyable.
Think of it like a personalized video playlist that you create with your friends or family inside a group chat.
Instead of scrolling through Reels by yourself, Blend lets you share and enjoy a custom feed of videos picked based on what you and your friends like. The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, officially announced the Blend features in a Reel.
The idea is similar to Spotify Blend, where your favorite songs mix with a friend’s to create one shared playlist. With Instagram Blend, the shared content is Reels.
The feature is available in one-on-one DMs or group chats, making it a private and interactive way to explore videos together.
Creating a Blend is simple. Inside a chat, tap the Blend icon near the top right, next to the call button, and invite others in that chat to join.
Once someone accepts, the Blend begins. You’ll then see a refreshed selection of Reels every day, showing videos that your friends are into, even ones that wouldn’t normally appear in your feed.
This feature builds on Instagram’s earlier update, a Reels tab that shows videos your friends liked or commented on.
While that feature is public, Blend is more private and personal. Both are designed to help you discover new videos and creators through your friends’ activity.
For now, Instagram Blend isn’t available to everyone just yet.

Even then, it may not be active right away. But once it is, you and your group can scroll through a fresh, daily selection of Reels handpicked by your shared interests.
