Spotify is gearing up for a price increase in the US market, expected to hit in early 2026, reports TechRadar (via Financial Times).

This move comes on the heels of recent price adjustments in various global markets and follows a July 2024 increase for US subscribers.

Last July, Spotify hiked prices across the board: Individual plans jumped from $10.99 to $11.99 per month, Duo went up from $14.99 to $16.99, and Family plans took the biggest leap, shooting from $16.99 to $19.99 monthly.

A projected $1 monthly hike for individual Premium plans could net Spotify an additional $500 million annually, bolstering the company’s recent profitability.

The streaming giant has also rolled out lossless audio support, a feature that was initially teased as part of a mysterious ‘supremium’ tier back in February 2021.

This higher-end offering was expected to include advanced features like listening stats, remixing tools, and free audiobooks. However, the ‘supremium’ tier remains on the back burner, with no official launch date announced.

Spotify’s decision to forgo the ‘supremium’ tier for now and instead focus on price adjustments for standard plans suggests a continued emphasis on revenue growth through incremental changes.

With the company’s first profit registered last year, it seems Spotify is prioritizing profitability over introducing new, high-end features.

As the music streaming space continues to evolve, one thing is clear: Spotify is looking to cash in.
