Apple just updated its Sports app to include live tennis scores for Grand Slams and ATP/WTA 1000 tournaments—right as Wimbledon kicks off.

Now, iPhone users can track every match, not just the headliners, with real-time scores pushed straight to their lock screens and Apple Watch.

The feature list is slick, but it’s also very, very Apple:

  • Live Activities: Instant score updates on your iPhone lock screen or Apple Watch—assuming you’ve got iOS 18 and watchOS 11, of course. (No, your iPhone 13 running iOS 16 will not cut it. Sorry, Dad.)
  • Game Card Sharing: Blast your friends with live match cards, so you can flex when your pick for the women’s draw cruises into the semis.
  • Integration: Syncs with the Apple TV app and Apple News, so your Apple ecosystem feels even more like a velvet-lined walled garden.

The app’s got a revamped home screen so you can put Wimbledon front and center, and it syncs with Apple TV and Apple News for that full-on ecosystem feel.

But don’t toss the official Wimbledon or ESPN apps yet: Apple Sports won’t stream matches or serve up interviews.

And don’t forget, outside of tennis, the Apple Sports app serves its purpose, regardless of interest level.

Everything is grouped by league, and your favorite teams are front and center, so you can pretend you care about baseball but really, refresh Djokovic’s live score for the next two weeks.

It’s all about speed, simplicity, and score obsession—very Apple, very slick, and maybe enough to keep you out of the group chat for spoilers.
