Meta has announced a new update to its AI tools that lets users edit short videos using AI.
These new video editing features allow people to change a video’s style, setting, or clothing with just a tap by using pre-made AI prompts.
For example, a person’s outfit can be changed into a space suit, or the entire video can be given a vintage comic book look. You can even make a sunny clip look like it was filmed on a rainy day.
This new tool is available in the Meta AI app, on the Meta.ai website, and in Edits, Meta’s answer to TikTok’s popular editing app CapCut. Right now, the tools are only being released in the US.
Meta said that these features were inspired by its Movie Gen AI models, but it didn’t say whether those exact models are powering this new tool.
For now, users can choose from 50 preset options to edit videos that are up to 10 seconds long.
These presets were developed based on feedback from content creators, making them easy to use and social media–ready.
After editing, users can share their videos directly to Facebook or Instagram without needing to save or upload them separately.
The company says this update is designed to help anyone create fun and engaging videos, whether it’s for sharing a favorite memory or entertaining followers on social media.
Meta plans to add more customizable options later this year so users can have even more control over how their videos look.
This move shows that Meta wants to compete more seriously with Google and other platforms that are adding AI-powered video tools.
Moreover, Meta also has an AI image generation feature across its platforms. Thus, it seems Meta is encouraging creators to use its own apps rather than turning to third-party video editors.
