Now, you may recognize the Anker brand for delivering excellent audio-visual devices, from their portable speakers, through to headphones and projectors, but you may also know that they’ve been in the power-supply game for some time, too. Today, we’re going to be taking a look at what their latest little juice-booster can do (clue – it boosts juice…fast).

The Anker PowerPort Atom III Slim is the newest addition to Anker’s power-supply family. This neat little four-port is available to buy now at a very reasonable $53.99 (£39.99 in the UK). Let’s have a little look at what you get in the box.

Get zapped

If there is one thing I hate, it is an abundance of plug sockets in use around my workspace. The resultant tangle of wires is a constant cause of concern to me (mainly because they look awful and cluttered) so to be able to charge up to four devices from one single unit is ideal for me.

Add to this the fact that I feel generally despondent when my Huawei P30 Pro is met with a ‘standard charger’ – i.e. not a fast charger – and Anker has a winner for me with their PowerPort Atom III Slim. The box contains the PowerPort itself (obviously), along with the PSU and associated cable. You also get a foam mounting strip so you can stick the light little unit to the underside of your workstation if you REALLY want to minimize the fuss.

The PowerPort Atom III Slim takes up very little in terms of space. At 9 x 8.7 x 2 cm it is a tiny unit and at a feather-light 136 grams, it is barely noticeable when sat in the palm of your hand.

The guts

You’re probably eager to know what sort of output you can expect from the PowerPort Atom III Slim. The left-hand port (from a total of four ports) delivers high-speed USB-C charging with an output of 45W, so you can breathe life back into your dying USB-C charged Notebooks and such.

The other three ports are your standard fast-charge connections for mobile devices – these share 20W so bear in mind that if you have all three of the USB connections in play then the power to each one isn’t going to be 20W – it’ll be between 6.5 and 7 on average.

Do I buy?

The 5 ft cable included (that powers the Anker PowerPort Atom III Slim) is long enough to ensure that the device isn’t sat right on top of the wall socket, and the PowerPort is compact enough to remain unobtrusive wherever you put it – especially if you mount it to the underside of your desk.

Combining four chargers into one is always going to be a great idea as it saves on space and procrastination-causing clutter around your work zone. A tidy desk is a tidy mind, as they don’t quite say. The low price point makes this a brilliant option for anyone who wants to use one device to charge the myriad devices you undoubtedly have sat on your desk.
