The Tesla Powerwall wants to power your entire house
Today, Elon Musk (CEO and founder of Tesla) announced their newest vision, Tesla Energy. An entirely new arm of the company, Tesla Energy wants to end our reliability on the traditional power grid most of us use to power our homes. It’s a bold vision, but if anybody can do it, Tesla can.

There are not many people that dislike Tesla. I mean, they make kick ass looking cars that run on solar energy, what’s not to like? Now, if only there was some way to harness that same solar technology that is used in the Tesla automobiles into your own home, wouldn’t that be amazing? Wouldn’t it?! I think you see where this is going.
Today, Elon Musk (CEO and founder of Tesla) announced their newest vision, Tesla Energy. An entirely new arm of the company, Tesla Energy wants to end our reliance on the traditional power grid most of us use to power our homes. It’s a bold vision, but if anybody can do it, Tesla can.
The first product announced from Tesla Energy is the $3,000 Powerwall. Using existing Tesla technology, the Tesla Powerwall is intended to provide power without relying on the grid. You’ll be able to “stack” up to nine Powerwalls to provide as much power as needed for your scenario. There will be two versions: the $3,000 7kWh version and a $3,500 10kWh version, with orders being sent out “late summer.”
The Powerwall will, obviously, use solar energy to harness power, but will also integrate into traditional power supplies to store excess power. Musk believes that 160 million battery packs could take America’s need for fossil fuels and other non-renewable resources and transition it to solar energy, a renewable (and clean) resource. He also believes that this tech can benefit everyone, proving especially valuable to those in developing countries where reliable electricity is nearly nonexistent in some locations.
