The Wall Street Journal just recently reported that Twitter plans on live streaming Bloomberg News 24 hours a day. This would be the first media partner to offer live streaming video 24 hours a day on the social platform.
The Wall Street Journal writes, “The social-media company is joining forces with the global financial news outlet to create a service that will stream news produced solely for Twitter 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“It is going to be focused on the most important news for an intelligent audience around the globe and it’s going to be broader in focus than our existing network,” said Bloomberg Media’s chief executive officer, Justin Smith.
One of the main takeaways from all this is that Twitter isn’t simply going to stream Bloomberg’s channel, but instead, the channel will feature exclusive content tailored to Twitter users. For example, global reporting tied along with videos or pictures posted via Twitter.
Anthony Noto, Twitter’s COO and CFO, said that the Bloomberg deal will open a door to cord cutters. “We really think we can reach audiences that are not paying for TV and are watching television on the go and we think Bloomberg is the perfect partner for us to start with,” he said.
The new news service provided by Bloomberg hasn’t been named as of yet, but an official announcement is set to be made today by Michael Bloomberg and Jack Dorsey.
