Finally, YouTube will kill those annoying 30-second ads before a YouTube video.

Ever watch a YouTube video and then all of a sudden you’re bombarded with a 30-second ad before the video you wanted to watch even starts? Well, according to The Verge, the company is killing that ad format and introducing “commercial formats that are more engaging for both advertisers and viewers.”

We’re committed to providing a better ads experience for users online. As part of that, we’ve decided to stop supporting 30-second unskippable ads as of 2018 and focus instead on formats that work well for both users and advertisers,” Google tells The Verge.

Now, this doesn’t mean all unskippable ads are disappearing from the platform. This just means YouTube will find other ways to annoy you before watching your favorite videos.

Unfortunately, this change isn’t happening over night. The change goes into effect sometime in 2018.
