YouTube is getting rid of its Trending page and Trending Now list and replacing them with more specific charts based on content categories.

Instead of showing one big list of what’s trending across the entire platform, YouTube will now highlight popular videos within different sections, like music, podcasts, and movie trailers.

This change is meant to reflect how people currently discover trending content.

Back in 2015, when the Trending page launched, viral videos were easier to spot in a single list because everyone tended to watch and talk about the same content.

But YouTube says things have changed.

Today, there are many smaller trends happening in different communities, like gaming, beauty, or K-pop, and these don’t always show up in a general trending list.

With the new system, YouTube will feature content on charts such as Trending Music Videos or Top Podcast Shows, and more categories will be added over time.

This allows people to explore what’s trending in areas they actually care about.

YouTube also points out that most users now find trending content through personalized recommendations, not the old Trending tab.

Features like the home page, search, comments, and suggested videos have become the main ways viewers discover what’s popular.

As a result, visits to the Trending page have dropped over the past five years.

To keep helping creators, YouTube will continue offering tools like the Inspiration Tab in YouTube Studio, which suggests new ideas based on what’s gaining traction.

They’re also testing features like Hype, where viewers can support new videos they love.

Additionally, YouTube will promote emerging creators through their YouTube social channels and official YouTube channel.

YouTube believes this new format better reflects the wide variety of content and trends on the platform today.

These updates will begin rolling out in the next couple of weeks and aim to make it easier for viewers to find what’s popular and for creators to get noticed.
