Faeland is a medieval pixel-art Metroidvania action adventure RPG

Inspired from classics like Metroid and Castlevania, Faeland offers a challenging platformer with an open world RPG twist.

That’s a lot of words thrown at you in the title, but that is exactly what Faeland is setting out to accomplish. Set up in the “Rising” section at PAX East, Faeland combines platforming, RPGs, and an open world through a medieval sidescrolling landscape.

Combining the challenging platform aspects of games like Castlevania and Metroid, Faeland has you investigating a realm where humans have established their kingdom through the land, but monstrous beasts and dark forces give a glimpse to a bigger, more ominous threat that challenges the survival of the entire realm.

Unlike many sidescrolling action RPGs, Faeland has multiple towns and cities where you can go to simply learn more about the story, interact with NPCs, and buy supplies for your character. These supplies not only offer RPG-style upgrades in the form of additional health and damage but also reflect on your character, changing your style and how other NPCs interact with you. Weapon choices are plentiful, with knives, daggers, swords, axes, whips, and bows all offering unique ways to overcome obstacles in your journey.

In addition to platforming and action, Faeland also presents players with challenging riddles and puzzles, helping keep the gameplay fresh throughout.

Faeland is currently slated to release on Steam, but will first be hosting a Kickstarter on April 17th, 2018. We will update this post when that link is available.
