In the market for a new portable herbal vaporizer? We rounded up some of our favorites of 2015!

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s we close out 2015, it is usually the time to reflect on how heated the portable vaporizer competition has become. Seems like manufacturers are trying to out think and out innovate each other on a daily basis. We’ve seen all types of vaporizers, some that are extremely complex to some that are so simple even your grandma can use it.

So to make it a bit easier for you, we’ve come out with a list of the top 5 portable vaporizers and here they are:

#5 The Fire Fly

The Firefly squeezes onto the list as one of the fan favorites because of its build and vapor quality. I do have to admit that at first I did have a hard time liking it because truthfully, there’s a bit of a learning curve. But as far as build quality, it is like a rock. Once you get past its quirkiness, it becomes very easy to use and as far as vapor taste it’s hard to surpass. Yes the Firefly is bulky and it does resembles a cell phone from the 90’s but it is still a true convection vaporizer that produces great quality vapor. It charges in less than 45 minutes and if you pick up an extra battery it will not leave you hanging. Check out our full review here.

#4 DaVinci Ascent

The Ascent uses a glass on glass vapor path that produces clean smooth quality vapor. It also sports an easy to use LCD display to control the temperature, which makes it very innovative. The glass mouthpiece could break and that is why the DaVinci decided to make it retractable for the “on the go” types. Like the Firefly, the Ascent is also a convection style vaporizer, which have been known to produce the best-tasting vapor. The Ascent is a bit bulky though and it can take a very long time to fully charge but the battery will last you over an hour of juice. Check out our full review here.

#3 Vapium Summit

The Vapium Summit is one of the surprises of 2015. It’s priced much lower than the rest of the vaporizers on the list but it will surely not disappoint. The Summit is one of the smaller portables on the market but it packs a big punch. If you desire portability and your objective but don’t want to break the bank then it’s definitely one to consider. It’s pretty simple to use and has a cool rugged feel. So don’t be afraid to bring out hiking or an adventure. The Vapium Summit is also one of the smallest convection vaporizers on the market and you’ll definitely get quality vapor even if you take a short pull or a long one. If you don’t have the budget for one of the higher priced vaporizers but still want to get close to the same quality, it’s definitely one to consider. Check out our full review here.

#2 The Pax 2

If you are looking for the iPhone of vaporizers then the Pax 2 is exactly what you’re looking for. The Pax 2 is probably one of the most popular portable vaporizers on the planet. It definitely breaks the mold as far a portability and design go. It is one of the easiest and vaporizers on the market. The Pax 2 is probably the best on the go vaporizer. The Pax 2’s designed to produce great amount of vapor from such as small unit. Its simplicity is what makes it shine. One of the key features of the Pax 2 is also its discreteness. Most people have no idea that it is a vaporizer. Many just assume it is some kind of high tech gadget that fits right in the Apple eco system.

The Pax 2 also out shines its competition with its impressive battery life. There aren’t really too many negative things to say about the Pax 2 other than maybe that it’s not a convection vapor so after a few draws you will start to get that burnt popcorn taste. But other than that, it’s going to be hard for any vaporizer out to knock it down as the best portable vaporizer on the market. Check out our full review here.

#1 It’s a tie between the Mighty and the Crafty

The Mighty and Crafty are both made by the same company that has dominated the desktop vaporizer game, the Volcano, truly a product in a league of its on. That is exactly what Storz & Bickel tried to do with the Mighty and the Crafty. These two are hands down the best handheld vaporizers on the planet.

Let’s start with the Mighty, in all its glory it is the bigger sibling of the Crafty. I don’t really consider the Mighty a pocket-sized vaporizer because of it size, but if bigger is better than this is the best. To simply put it, the Mighty produces huge clouds of quality-tasting vapor. It has a nice-sized LCD for complete control of the desired temperature setting. Its battery life is about 90 minutes and it can be used while it is charging. You can read our full review of it here.

Now let’s talk about its smaller sibling, the Crafty.

Crafty Portable Vaporizer

The Crafty like the Mighty produces huge vapor clouds and top-notch vapor quality as well. It is a bit smaller, making it more portable than the Mighty. The battery life of the Crafty will last you about half of the Mighty. Both units can be used while charging except that with Crafty you have to wait about 25 minutes before you can start using it. The Crafty doesn’t have a cool LCD like its bigger brother but it does have an app you can use with your smart fun to control the heating and other features. It has an app! How many vaporizers do you know have its own App? But if there were to be a downfall to these two awesome vaporizers, it would have to be the price. But then again as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Read our full review of the Crafty here.

Hopefully this roundup will give you a better perspective of what to get if you are looking for a quality handheld vaporizer. Needless to say, there are quite a few other vaporizers out there that didn’t make the cut, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they aren’t any good. It’s just that we wanted to narrow it down to a few of the best ones.

With handheld vaporizers there are many factors involved such as portability, battery life, and of course the actual vapor quality. If you feel that there are others that should have been on the list don’t be afraid to mention your favorites in the comments!
