The next iPhone event is on the horizon. This year, Apple’s iPhone 15 series is expected to feature a few major changes, most notably the company’s departure from the Lightning port to USB-C

This means Apple has to ship new cables with the box to complete the transition. And the latest leak is in line with our speculation, which suggests the company might give the cable an overdue upgrade.

According to the information shared by X (formerly Twitter) user Majin Bu (Via MacRumors), Apple is switching to color-matched USB-C cables for the new iPhone 15 series

Additionally, the cables are expected to be braided. While there would still be no charger included in the box, it would be great to see new cables, which could help push people to buy the next iPhone.

This isn’t a far-fetched move for Apple, though. The company already provides color-matched braided cables for multiple new-gen devices. But this is a rumor at the end of the day, so take it with a grain of salt.

The images shared in the post reveal USB-C to USB-C braided cables in multiple color options. Except for the black cable, all the other colors feature a tinted white plastic shell, while the black cable features a glossy black plastic shell.

It would be one of the best iPhone upgrades in years if the rumor turns out to be true. We all know the in-box iPhone cables are fragile, and degrade rather easily.

The braided cables stand to last longer and are far better than the flimsy cables Apple currently includes in the box. This upgrade could fix one of the biggest criticisms Apple has faced in recent years.
