Oh my god, we get it – walking is for suckers. Well, that’s what we’re told to believe when something like the WalkCar from Cocoa Motors is shoved right in our face. I mean, look at it.
But if I have to be completely honest, this laptop looking scooter is pretty sweet.
So what is it exactly? Essentially the WalkCar is a four-wheeled scooter that works kind of like a Segway. To get it going all you have to do is stand on it. Shifting your weight to either side turns the scooter in whatever direction your weight is leaning on. Stepping off the device stops it.
The device is about the same size as a 13-inch laptop and weights about 6.2 pounds. The company claims the device can reach speeds of up to 10 miles per hour. The battery is also said to last about an hour.
Cocoa Motors announced they will start to taking pre-orders on October 21 at a price of $1,280. But here’s the kicker, you’ll have to wait another year – September to be exact – for the device to ship.
I don’t know, if you ask me, that’s a pretty steep price for that sort of convenience. I’ll stick to walking.
