While the first gameplay video for Rockstar’s upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 gave us a pretty great look at the world and the characters in the title, this latest trailer dives into what you can do when not propelling the story forward. While the story in Rockstar’s games is usually topnotch, it’s everything you can do in the world that makes games like Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto, and Bully so great.
In this trailer, we see our main character, Arthur Morgan doing a variety of activities, from hunting and wishing, to robbing stagecoaches and playing cards. Like most Rockstar titles, there will be no shortage of activities to keep gamers busy.
Some of these activities will be bigger affairs, like bank heists and train robberies, but there will also be more organic experiences that pop up that the narrator explains will happen naturally as you’re playing the game.
Dead Eye system and first-person mode in Red Dead Redemption 2
We also got a look at the improved Dead Eye system and how it will grow with the player the more you play. It also showed more of what playing in first-person mode will look like, and honestly, it looks great and hopefully provides as full an experience as third-person mode.
This trailer also gives us a better idea of how the “Wanted” system will work in RDR2. Instead of GTA-style cops always on your tail, the title is keeping to theme by having bounty hunters tracking you for your various crimes.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled to release on October 26 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will most likely come to PC as well, but no confirmed dates at this time.
