Portable vaporizers are all the rage now, there’s literally hundreds of them, and I can see why; They’re simple to use for one, and secondly, they deliver satisfying results. Although these are good enough reasons alone to go out and drop a week’s worth of groceries to buy one, it’s probably worth noting that they’re a little high-maintenance. I mean, it’s kind of a pain when you have to stop whatever it is you’re doing to pack a small oven with finely grained herbs (seriously, try doing this on a windy day).
So when I was given the chance to review Kandypens Black Edition for waxes and concentrates, they had my attention. I mean, how hard could it be? It’s not as complicated as a portable vaporizer or anything. You essentially just push a button and that’s it.
As it turns out, the Black Edition is everything I expected. Simple, powerful, and effective. Let me walk you through.

First Impressions & Design
Right out of the box I was immediately impressed with its design and size. It looks solid and well-built. If I were to be blunt, this thing is sexy. It features a smooth black rubber finish that goes really well with the unit and it’s about 6 inches–making it really easy to stash away in my pocket. When it comes to its interface, it’s pretty straight forward, the device only has one button. The chances of you messing a batch up is highly unlikely, but hey, anything’s possible.
Performance
After checking everything out, I loaded the device up and powered away. After giving it a few warm up pull’s, the Black Edition did its magic and blew me away with some monstrous hits. I’m serious, the punishment I put my lungs through in those first three to five pulls were biblical, and in a good way! The units titanium atomizer goes to work keeping the wax or concentrates contained within the coil, allowing the contents to heat up to that magical temperature.
The only pain point I had with the Black Edition was how difficult it was to load the atomizer bowl. It’s not that big, however, it’s larger than most of its kind. Meaning, you can only load a few sessions at a time. Not really the ideal device to share with a loud crowd, but hey, who want’s to share with a bunch of freeloaders anyway?
It’s battery life is great too. I’m able to get 2-3 days out of this guy. Mind you, I’m probably using it a few times a day so that helps conserve its battery. Charging the device is pretty fast too thanks to its small battery.
Overall
The Black Edition is a beast, no question about it. The device’s sleek design and powerful atomizer puts it in top of its class. I gave my unit a nickname of “the lung buster.” Try it and you’ll see what I’m talking about. If you’re in the market and need a nod of approval, here it is, I would totally recommend this to anyone looking to get their hands on a device of this kind.
The Black Edition will set you back $100, which in my opinion is a great value. If you think the price is a little high, not to worry, Kandypens throws in a lifetime warranty on both the battery and atomizer, essentially making you a customer for life–which necessarily isn’t a bad thing.
