When Grenco Science introduced their G pen back in 2012, they revolutionized the wax and concentrate portable vaporizer world. In a short period of time their pens have become so popular that they even have collaborated with celebrities such as Snoop Dogg. With the amount of success they’ve accomplished, they decided to get into the dry herbal vaporizer game and we were lucky enough to get a chance to test out their popular G Pro herbal portable vaporizer, but does it make the cut?

First Impression

Right out of the box the G Pro looks very impressive. With its slim and smooth curves, the device fits easily in your pocket, without the feeling of something poking you. It comes in an all black finish that makes it one of the stealthiest portables in the market. Did I mention how light it is? Well it’s pretty lightweight but that doesn’t take anything away from having a quality feel to it.

Design

When Grenco Science designed the G Pro Herbal Vaporizer, they had simplicity in mind. The G Pro uses a single button to power on and off the unit and also to toggle through the preset heating temperatures. To turn it on, simply press the power button 5 times and it will automatically begin to heat up. The power button will light up red and in about 60 seconds it will turn green to indicate that it’s ready to vape. Just under the power button the G Pro has a small light indicator that goes from red at the lowest heat setting (350F) to Green, which is the medium setting (380F) and blue at the highest temperature setting. On the bottom of the G Pro, there’s a micro USB connection to charge the unit. It doesn’t come with a wall charger, which was disappointing but you can always just hook it up to a laptop or a phone charger. It takes anywhere from 1-3 hours to fully charge depending on how drained the battery is. You can’t use the G Pro while charging so that could be a pain if you forget.

G Pro Performance

When purchasing a portable vaporizer, there are many factors that you want to look at. For starters price may be important to you as well as functionality. But one of the most important aspects of course is how the unit performances.

The G Pro is a true portable vaporizer and what I mean by that is it uses conduction to heat up your herbs in an all stainless steel heating chamber. It won’t combust your material unlike other pens. You can fit about a .06 of material, which is quite a decent size. And as mentioned before, it is simple to use and requires very little maintenance. Just use the G cleaning brush provided and that’s it. With the G Pro you will get a decent amount of vapor in the medium and high settings but you won’t see in the low setting.

With that said, the G Pro is not perfect. For starters it comes with a plastic mouthpiece that gets very hot, so you definitely want to use the silicone covers that are included. Also, the vapor it produces is hot and taste is below par as compared to say the Firefly or the even the Pax. But keep in mind that those two are a lot more expensive.

Final Verdict

At just under $100, you won’t find too many other portable vaporizers that will out perform it. The G Pro is very easy to use and maintain and it comes with a one-year warranty from a quality brand, so you won’t be out of luck if it does malfunctions. The G Pro dry flower vaporizer produces decent vapor and it does it discreetly. If you are new to the vapor game or are looking to add an addition to your arsenal, you may want to consider the G Pro herbal vaporizer. Overall, the G Pro gets the job done.
