Samsung may have accidentally shown us the design of its upcoming foldable phone with three screens (sometimes called a “trifold” or “multifold”), thanks to animations discovered in the latest update for its One UI 8 software.

The device, possibly named the “Galaxy G Fold,” shows up in the update’s files under the name “Multifold 7.” These animations give hints about what the phone could look like and how it might work.

The leaked images shared by Android Authority reveal a three-panel phone that can fold in two places using a dual-hinge system. When fully unfolded, the device has a large screen made up of three connected panels.

The main rear camera setup has three lenses, which are located on the rightmost panel when the phone is open.

That same panel will also contain the NFC chip, which handles features like contactless payments.

The middle panel appears to act as the phone’s cover screen, the one you’d use when the phone is closed, with a front-facing camera for selfies or video calls.

Interestingly, when the device is opened up, the front camera shifts position to the right panel, which also houses the rear cameras on the other side.

Animations show how the phone is supposed to fold: the left side folds inward first, then the right side folds over it.

There’s even a warning not to fold the right panel first because the bulky camera module would prevent the phone from closing properly and could damage the screen.

This folding design is different from Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design, the first trifold phone released last year.

Huawei’s device uses a Z-shaped fold, letting you use one, two, or all three panels at a time, but it leaves part of the screen exposed, making it easier to scratch or damage.

It’s important to remember these details come from software leaks, not official announcements, so the final design could change.

Samsung might reveal more at its next Unpacked event on July 9, where it’s expected to show off new versions of its Z Fold and Z Flip foldable phones.
