When it comes to using systems like Geo-Tracking, it may strike some as a little unnerving at first because it feels like you are violating someone’s privacy by seeing their location.
However, for parents who want to keep track of their kids and family and friends that want to find each other at locations like sports arenas, concert halls, shopping centers, and the like it can be a very useful tool. Here are six apps that are designed to help you find family and friends quickly and easily.
Connect
This app incorporates many social media sites which include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and several others to help keep you in touch. You can photo share, group message, and the like with this app. Plus, you can pull locations through Connect to different social media sites to share real-time information as well as see where everyone else is at who is also on Connect. If everyone agrees, Connect is one of the better location trackers on the market and perfect for parents with children to watch over. Connect is currently available on iOS, Android, and the web.
Family Locator
This app is dedicated to finding family members, show their position on a map, and use the integrated message system for communication. It is similar to the Google+ system in that you can put your contacts into “circles” for better organization. Plus, you can receive automatic push notifications such as when your children arrive home from school. Family Locator is available on iOS and Android.
My Friends
This default native app inside iOS works with your Apple ID so that you can share your location with the people that you choose. You can temporarily disable the program if you desire and go on a device by device basis if you have more than one iOS product. It works great for Apple products, but for those with Window or Android they will have to look elsewhere.
Google+
The follow-up to Google Limited, this system includes open tracking and is simple to use on your Android system. However, to activate this app you’ll need to head over to Google and configure your settings which mean that for Apple users it is pretty much worthless.
Glympse
This is an independent location sharing device that works on iOS, Android, and Windows systems. There are plenty of features that make Glympse quite desirable as a location tracker. Plus, you can organize the app for a group session at the shopping mall, inform your manager that you’ll be running late, and message anyone in the system quickly and easily.
Swarm
This app is more of a competition than just a locator. You can actually compete against friends and family to earn more points by checking into different places. The app will help you locate friends and family that are nearby and you can use the integrated message system to arrange a gathering. While very user-friendly, it does not have the real-time tracker options as other apps.
