Apple is set to release its next-generation iPad Pro and MacBook Pro with the M5 chip later this year, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The new iPad Pro models are currently in advanced testing, and if everything goes as planned, mass production will start in the second half of the year.
Gurman says that the new versions of that model, code-named J817, J818, J820, and J821, are in late testing within Apple and on track for production in the second half of this year.
Based on this timeline, Apple could launch the updated iPad Pro around October 2025.
While the 2025 iPad Pro will be faster and more efficient, it won’t introduce any major new features.
Alongside the iPad Pro, Apple is also planning to release new MacBook Pro models with the M5 chip later in 2025.
The upcoming MacBook Pro will get an OLED display, offering higher brightness, better contrast, and richer colors.
Apple will use Tandem OLED technology, which stacks two layers of RGB pixels for improved brightness and a longer lifespan.
Apple may also remove the notch at the top of the screen and replace it with a smaller hole-punch camera, similar to the Dynamic Island on the iPhone.
If you’re thinking about buying a new MacBook Pro, you might want to wait until 2026.
That’s when Apple is expected to release a major redesign featuring a thinner and sleeker body, an OLED display for better contrast and brightness, and a more advanced M6 chip.
Apple originally planned this redesign for 2025 but had to delay it due to challenges with the new display technology.
Expect significant performance and efficiency improvements, with models available in M6, M6 Pro, and M6 Max versions for both 14-inch and 16-inch sizes.
We expect more details about these upcoming iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models to surface online in the coming days.
