Google has just announced Gemini 2.5 Pro, an advanced AI model designed to help developers and advanced users solve more complex problems.

This version is experimental and the first of its kind in a new lineup that aims to “think” before it responds, improving accuracy and reasoning.

Starting today, Gemini 2.5 Pro is available in Google AI Studio.

If you’re a Gemini Advanced subscriber, you can access it immediately at no extra cost. It will also be integrated into Vertex AI, Google’s cloud-based AI service, soon.

According to Google, Gemini 2.5 Pro outperforms its competition, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT and other leading AI models.

It has taken the top spot on the LMArena leaderboard with an 18.8% score, meaning it excels at understanding and solving complex problems.

In areas like math and science, it ranks higher than previous AI models without needing extra tricks like “majority voting,” which some AIs use to boost accuracy.

One standout feature of Gemini 2.5 Pro is its one-million-token context window. It means it can process and remember vast amounts of information in a single session, like long conversations, codebases, or even videos.

Google plans to expand this to two million tokens soon. Besides this, Gemini 2.5 Pro can also handle different types of data, including audio, images, entire code repositories, and video.

This makes it much more versatile, allowing it to analyze and understand complex content more than just text-based inputs.

Google has been improving its Gemini AI models since launching the first “thinking” version in December.

Recently, they’ve integrated Gemini into Google Maps, allowing users to talk to Maps like a virtual assistant.

Google has also confirmed that Gemini will replace Google Assistant in the coming months.

If you’re a developer or a Gemini Advanced subscriber, you can start using Gemini 2.5 Pro today.
