Mario Kart fans rejoice! Today, Nintendo is pushing out an update to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that adds support for Nintendo Labo on the Switch. To get things going, you’ll need the Toy-Con Motorbike which is included in the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit.
The Toy-Con Motorbike allows you turn your vehicle using Toy-Con’s handlebars. Accelerating is done by twisting the right handlebar like you would on a motorcycle. Additionally, players can utilize other Joy-Con buttons to brake, drift, and fire items. To make things interesting, if you have friends with Toy-Con Motorbike kits, up to four players can play at the same time.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is one of the first Nintendo Switch games to support Toy-Con’s. The company says that more games with Labo support are already in the works.
Nintendo Labo, which revolves around cardboard DIY accessories that can be used to interact with the Switch console tablet, and its two JoyCons.
These cardboard accessories are impressive in every aspect. One of the best features of the Switch showcased with Labo is the Joy-Cons. For instance, with the piano creation, the joy-con that slides into the back has a camera that can see the back of the keys. The sound knobs are detected and deciphered by stripes that are on the back so that the camera can tell the difference.
The technology in the Joy-Cons is underappreciated, and I think Labo can help show what the Switch is truly capable of technologically.
