Nintendo is holding a new round of testing for its Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program, and applications will be opening soon.

This is the second time Nintendo is running this type of test, and it’s for the same service as before.

While Nintendo hasn’t officially said what the test is for, leaks from the previous one suggest it may involve a multiplayer online game, possibly something in the style of an MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online game).

To join the test, you must be 18 or older and have an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership as of Thursday at 6 PM ET.

You also need a Nintendo Account registered in one of the following countries: Japan, the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada, Brazil, or Mexico.

You can apply by yourself or as part of a group of up to four people, as long as everyone meets the requirements.

You can start preparing your application on Friday, July 18th at 6 PM ET, and you’ll be able to submit it from Monday, July 21st at 11 AM ET until Wednesday, July 23rd at 10:59 AM ET.

Nintendo says it will accept applications on a first-come, first-served basis, so the earlier you apply, the better your chances.

Nintendo plans to accept up to 40,000 participants worldwide, which is a big increase compared to the 10,000 users who were accepted in the first test last October.

If you joined the October test, you’re still welcome to participate in this new one.

The actual playtest will take place from Monday, July 28th, at 9 PM ET to Sunday, August 10th, at 8:59 PM ET.

As before, Nintendo is likely to ask participants not to share details about the test, though it’s unclear if leaks will surface again.

This new round shows Nintendo is continuing to explore new online experiences for Switch players, possibly hinting at a bigger project in development.
