Facebook game invite

What’s the most annoying thing about Facebook – other than, you know, Facebook itself? (That is not a koan.) The mind immediately lurches to Facebook’s neverending stream of game and app invites, from the same handful of contacts, over and over again. And, if you’re like me, some sad little corner of your mind hopes that the notification waiting for you is something of even the vaguest relevance to your life. Nope: it’s just some idiot wanting to play Candy Crush with you.

I’m constantly barraged by these invasive requests, and I know I’m not the only one.

To show you what I’m dealing with, here’s the current number of Facebook game invites I have sitting dormant:

Facebook Invites

I actually haven’t been in this menu for a couple of months now. You should’ve seen the number of invites I had before that.

But, despair not: I found something that will stop the game-invite madness for good.

Here’s how to disable any future game or app invites in Facebook:

  1. Log in to Facebook.
  2. Click the arrow-shaped Settings icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click the Apps link in the left-hand column.
  5. Find the Apps You Use section and then click Edit.
  6. Click the Turn off Platform link.

Important: The steps explained above will disable all Facebook games and apps, even the few you may use yourself, so be ready to go Cold Candy Crush. If worse comes to worse, you can always turn the platform back on – if you’re crazy like that.
