An affordable and low profile home computer.
If you are looking for a sleek desktop that fits perfectly into a small space, then look no further than the Byte 3 Mini Desktop PC. Proudly produced by Azulle, this tiny but powerful desktop computer fits just about anywhere and will never be an eyesore like some of the other models you’ll find in this category.
Today, we are going to learn more about this amazing desktop and see what it has to offer.
The Design Aspects
The device itself is very attractive and is constructed of high-quality aluminum and plastic. This lightweight yet durable materials come together to form the perfect PC. Small in stature, the Byte 3 is about the size of a router, so you will never have a problem with it taking up too much space. The unit has rubberized feet to help keep the unit in place and prevent shifting. A blue stripe accent adds to the beauty of the machine and encircles the Azulle logo giving this PC plenty of appeal.
The PC comes Wi-Fi ready and uses a small antenna that sticks out of the back of the unit to quickly connect to the internet. This will allow users to surf the web and connect to their wireless devices with ease. Additionally, the Byte 3 has built-in Bluetooth giving you access to even more of your favorite devices such as Bluetooth ready keyboards or mice. You also have the option of adding a 2.5-inch SATA drive which gives you the opportunity to install a regular HDD drive or a more powerful SSD for better performance.
The Byte 3 Mini Desktop PC comes standard with a 1.10GHz Intel Celeron Quad CPU. This processor will give you 2M of cache with a burst of up to 2.2GHz. You will also find an Intel 500 HD graphics card which is pretty impressive for such a small PC. When you purchase this desktop, you will receive 32GB of storage and 4GB DDR3 worth of RAM. This configuration will give you ample speed and enough storage to handle daily tasks with ease. This desktop PC is comparable to most small to midsized laptops in both speed and performance.
We spent a lot of time checking out the Byte 3 Mini Desktop PC and what we found just might surprise you. While this machine is not a high-performance model, it holds its own. When we first turned on the unit after taking it out of the box, it took only 40 seconds to boot up fully. We then began the Windows 10 setup process putting in all of our preferences such as language and keyboard layout. Next, we allowed Windows to run a diagnostic check on the PC to check for any updates.
After we let Windows get through the setup and update process, we shut the PC down. We wanted to compare the boot process to see how much faster it would load after the setup process and updates. Once we turned the unit back on, it took just 24 seconds to load fully. We were really impressed with the boot process, and it is comparable to models much more expensive than the Byte 3.
Once we had the PC up and running, it was time to test out the Wi-Fi. After connecting to the internet via Wi-Fi, we surfed the web and performed some simple searches. While the Wi-Fi speed was not lighting fast, this machine will give you ample speed to do routine everyday tasks. After checking our speed, we found that the PC bottlenecked at 76Mbps on the downstream and 32Mbps on the upstream. At this rate, most normal tasks will not slow down the machine, and you can even use applications like Adobe Photoshop and games like Angry Birds or Minecraft to name a few.
If you are a serious gamer, then you will probably find the Wi-Fi not ample enough to play large games. But keep in mind, the Byte 3 was not designed for gaming. Instead, it was intended to be a sleek desktop PC that can perform everyday tasks for a fraction of the cost. After testing out this desktop PC, we conclude that it performed just as well as some laptops that retailed for $400 to $500. This is excellent news for those looking for a good PC but doesn’t have a lot of money to spend on one.
While the base model comes with plenty of storage, there is always room to add more. This PC comes with an SD slot for added storage, or you can install an external hard drive or thumb drive. But your options for storage don’t end there. By removing the four screws that hold the outside housing together, you will soon find lots of space inside. You will also find internal connections that will allow you to quickly install an additional internal hard drive that will give you even more storage space for all your data.
On the flip side of things, the RAM and CPU is built into the motherboard, so, unfortunately, you won’t be able to upgrade them. But the Byte 3 already has plenty of power preinstalled in the machine and will continue to provide you with ample processing speed. On the other hand, if you are looking for a super-fast PC that can handle heavy applications, you might want to consider buying a different model.
The Final Verdict
After taking a more in-depth look at this PC, we feel that it has a ton of value. The Byte 3 is small in size but not in power or performance. This machine is perfect for browsing the internet, watching Netflix or working from home. Those who love to play games will be happy to find that mid-sized games can easily be played on this desktop PC. At the price of just $199, you really can’t go wrong. So if you are in the market for a new desktop and you don’t want to break the bank or take up too much space, this just might be the one for you.
