Apple Vision Pro may receive an M5 upgrade in 2025, but the rumored lower-cost model has been delayed.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s plan to manufacture a more affordable version of the Vision Pro has been pushed back to “beyond 2027.”

Moreover, he claims that the current model will be replaced by an identical one upgraded to an M5 processor in 2025. The current Apple Vision Pro comes with an M2 chip that was launched in 2022.

Apple’s plan for Vision Pro headsets has changed significantly

According to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s plans for a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset appear to be delayed beyond 2027.

Originally, rumors pointed to a budget-friendly Apple Vision headset launching in 2025.

This lower-cost version was expected to feature cheaper materials and lower-resolution displays and would likely lack EyeSight support, one of the Vision Pro’s premium features.

Apple reportedly aimed to make spatial computing more accessible through the cheaper headset, reaching a wider audience.

However, Kuo’s recent update suggests these plans have shifted, with Apple pushing the release of a budget Vision model beyond 2027.

Kuo likened the potential impact of the cheaper Vision headset to that of the HomePod mini, which, despite being a lower-cost option, did not lead to mainstream adoption for Apple’s smart speakers.

In contrast, Kuo expects a new version of the Vision Pro, equipped with an advanced M5 chip and Apple Intelligence features, to debut in 2025.

Besides this, there is no word about any further hardware upgrades for the next iteration of Vision Pro.

Word on the internet is that the budget Vision headset could cost around $2,000 — significantly cheaper than the Vision Pro, which costs $3,500 but could still be considered high-end within the VR/AR market.

What do you think about the Vision Pro launch timeline? Would you rather Apple release an affordable model first? We would love to hear your thoughts, so hit us up below in the comments, or via our Twitter or Facebook.
