If you don’t like sound coming from your Facebook Newsfeed, here’s how to stop auto-playing videos with sound.

Facebook announced recently that it will play sound by default anytime you scroll past an auto-playing video on your Newsfeed. If you’re like me, this is a setting that gets turned off immediately.

There’s a couple of ways to bypass this. The easiest way is setting your phone to silent. But if you’re someone who likes to hear every notification, keeping your phone on silent may not be the best solution. Thankfully, there’s another way to get around sound from automatically playing anytime you scroll through your Newsfeed.

First, click the three-line icon in the bottom-right hand corner of the Facebook app. Then, tap “Settings“, then “Account Settings” and lastly tap “Sounds.” From here, you’ll see “Videos in News Feed Start With Sound.” Toggle that off.

Keep in mind, sound for auto-playing videos is still being rolled out so it’s possible you might not see these settings in the app. However, once you start seeing/hearing these sound-enabled auto-playing videos, you’ll know exactly where to go to turn it off.
