Tiny homes may have started as a gimmick, but now that people are beginning to realize the benefits they can offer regarding sustainability and costs, consumers are flocking to get their own tiny homes at greater rates than ever.

Tiny home manufacturer ECLIPSE Cottages is changing what it means to live in one of these structures, offering cottages equipped with some of the most advanced technology on the market.

One of the main reasons that many people decide to pursue unique living arrangements, such as tiny homes, is their energy efficiency.

In addition to allowing substantial savings, energy efficiency significantly reduces the environmental impact of a homeowner’s consumption.

Therefore, thanks to the advanced connected home technology installed in every cottage, homeowners can have more control over their energy consumption.

One tool ECLIPSE’s cottages are equipped with, which saves energy, is wireless smart switches.

This feature allows homeowners to turn their lights and possibly outlets on and, more importantly, off from the convenience of their handheld smart device.

Moreover, setting timers or turning lights off remotely makes energy saving even easier.

“Depending on the type of lightbulb you use, the electricity cost is anywhere from $5 to $6 per 1,000 hours,” explains Justin Draplin, CEO of ECLIPSE Cottages.

“When you have multiple lights in your home, the cost and impact of leaving your lights on can stack up quickly. Smart switches are one way we allow the owner to take back control of their energy consumption.”

To help combat some of these expenses and allow homeowners to live a more sustainable lifestyle, ECLIPSE’s cottages come equipped with up to 8kW of high-tech solar-powered metal roofing.

Thus, this allows the cottages to produce more energy than they consume when homeowners practice responsible, energy-efficient living.

Consumers can also purchase their cottages with optional add-ons that allow them to live off-grid entirely (and comfortably).

For example, adding a lithium-ion battery backup will give the cottage what it needs to continue to power itself. Therefore, even in unideal conditions such as bad weather days that prevent solar panels from producing more power.

ECLIPSE’s newest model, the Comet, comes equipped with all of the advanced features and technology from their other models but with a more modern flourish.

A 128-square-foot cottage, the Comet comes equipped with ECLIPSE’s proprietary solar roof and advanced water filtration. Additionally, you find beautiful decorative features and appliances to make it feel even more like home.

Many consumers have turned to tiny homes thanks to their affordability.

“On top of the savings due to reduced utility costs, with low prices beginning at $25,000 for their base model — and payments as low as $99 a month on the Comet — these tiny cottages are an affordable alternative to traditional housing,” says Draplin.

“And unlike an apartment or rental unit, the payments you make on your cottage allow you to lock into homeownership.”

Some tiny homeowners have even succeeded in using their cottage as an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in their backyard or as an Airbnb rental.

The features of ECLIPSE’s cottages put them above and beyond their competition in terms of technological innovation.

From being equipped with high-tech solar power equipment to connected home capabilities that allow homeowners to manage their energy consumption from anywhere, ECLIPSE is truly at the cutting edge of tiny home technology.

“We like to think of our cottages as the home of the future,” explains Draplin. “Our features speak for themselves and allow us to deliver our customers with a cottage they will truly be proud to call home.”
