One of the world’s most popular instant messaging platforms, WhatsApp, has announced a set of fun new features to improve your overall chatting experience.

WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, has apparently taken inspiration from its other platforms for these new updates.

The new features include camera effects, selfie stickers, and more to make it faster and easier to react to messages.

According to Meta, the company wants to begin the new year by making its popular chatting platform more fun and easier to use.

Here’s the set of features Meta announced for WhatsApp

Creative chat features: stickers, reactions, effects, photos.

  • Camera effects: First is the new camera effects feature, which expands the tools previously available only in WhatsApp video calls. You can now select from 30 backgrounds, filters, and effects when taking or sending photos or videos directly within your WhatsApp chats.
  • Selfie stickers: Rejoice sticker lovers, as you can now turn your selfies into stickers with the “create sticker” button and use the camera option to take a selfie. This new feature is only available on Android; however, an iOS rollout will happen soon.
  • Share a sticker pack: Sharing sticker packs is now easier. Say you have spotted a sticker pack that your friend or friends will love, and you can now share it directly through chat.
  • Quicker reactions: Quick reactions are getting an upgrade. You can now simply double-tap a message to react with the option to scroll through your most used reactions for an even faster response.

As Meta has mentioned before, all these new improvements to WhatsApp are inspired by the company’s other platforms.

For example, you may have seen a similar quick reaction integration on Instagram

The features are rolling out immediately and should be available to most users. However, a quick app update may do the trick if you don’t see them.
