If you’ve opened your YouTube TV bill lately and spotted a mysterious $10 discount, congrats, you might be one of the lucky few getting compensated for the platform’s recent Disney meltdown.

According to reports circulating on Reddit, some subscribers are suddenly finding a $10 monthly credit applied to their accounts, supposedly as a peace offering for the abrupt disappearance of over 20 Disney-owned channels last week. (Via: Android Authority)

The list of casualties included heavy hitters like ABC, ESPN, and National Geographic, basically, a large chunk of what people actually watch on YouTube TV.

There’s just one catch: the credit doesn’t appear to be automatic. Users say you need to manually log in, head to the “Manage Base Plan” section, and click your way into the discount.

Even then, not everyone’s seeing it. Some subscribers report no sign of a deal at all, while others are already basking in the glow of a slightly cheaper subscription.

The credit, for those who get it, lasts six months, after which YouTube TV will politely return your bill to its full, uncensored amount.

No official word yet from Google on who’s eligible or why some people are being left out. It’s like a digital game of Oprah: “You get a refund! You don’t!”

The whole thing stems from a spat between YouTube and Disney that led to the sudden removal of Disney’s channels from the service.

When that happened, YouTube promised subscribers a $20 monthly discount if the blackout dragged on, though this new $10 credit has fans scratching their heads.

Is this half of that promise? A separate gesture? A glitch? So far, YouTube’s staying quiet.

For now, the $10 credit seems to be a small “our bad” from the streaming giant, but if your account didn’t get one, it looks like you’ll just have to make do with fewer channels and the comforting knowledge that at least someone somewhere got a discount.
