Amazon is making shopping more personalized and convenient by using AI to help customers find what they need more easily.
The company introduced a new feature called “Interests,” in a blog post, which is designed to create a more natural and interactive search experience.
With this feature, shoppers can type in detailed and specific requests in everyday language.
Instead of just searching for “model kits,” they can ask for something like “model building kits and accessories for hobbyist engineers.” Similarly, a coffee enthusiast can search for “brewing tools and gadgets for coffee lovers.”
This makes it easier for people to find products that closely match their interests, preferences, and budget.

The technology behind Interests is powered by LLMs, advanced AI systems capable of understanding and processing human language.
These models translate user-friendly searches into queries that Amazon’s search engine can understand, resulting in more accurate and relevant product recommendations.
Another useful aspect of Interests is that it works continuously in the background.
It keeps track of a user’s preferences and notifies them when new or relevant products become available. This includes restocks, special deals, and new arrivals that fit their specific interests.
Right now, Interests is only available to a small group of users in the US through the Amazon Shopping app on iOS and Android devices and Amazon’s mobile website under the “Me” tab.
However, Amazon plans to roll it out to more users in the coming months.
Other AI tools the company has introduced include the AI shopping assistant Rufus, AI-powered Shopping Guides, AI-generated product descriptions, and review summaries.
Amazon isn’t the only company adopting AI in online shopping. Google has also upgraded its Shopping tab with AI-powered tools, which helps users find clothing based on a description, and an AI summary tool that provides detailed product information.
