Amazon launches new international shopping for customers all over the world
A couple of months ago, I wanted to buy my cousin in Portugal a drone for his birthday. Honestly, I didn’t know where to start so I turned to Amazon as any reasonable person would. When I found exactly what I wanted to get him and entered his shipping info, I was surprised to find out that Amazon didn’t ship internationally. Luckily, I was able to order the exact item via the Amazon UK store and had it shipped to him directly, but man, I have to say, it was kind of a hassle.
Luckily, this is all changing. Amazon just rolled out international shipping on over 45 million items that can be shipped around the world from the U.S, reports Reuters. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do any of this through its website; you’ll have to opt for the Amazon Shopping App for iOS and Android or some sort of mobile browser to soak up all the international shopping features.
Amazon’s international shopping experience is available in five languages, including Spanish, English, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, and German. 25 currencies will be supported with more languages and currencies being added throughout 2018.
In a recent press release, Samir Kumar, VP of Amazon Exports and Expansion, explains:
“We are always innovating on behalf of our customers, and with today’s launch, we are making the shopping experience on mobile devices even better and more convenient for our customers who live outside the US. Customers have been asking for a way to easily find and shop only for products available to be shipped to them. The International Shopping experience solves this customer need and makes it simple to browse, shop and ship more than 45 million products to over a hundred countries around the world.”
This is huge for folks all over the world, and no doubt pushes Amazon further as the king of ecommerce.
