New iPad Air leak reveals what to expect from this year’s models

Apple’s next iPad Air models will pack M3 silicon instead of M4, and apparently, they will be announced in March alongside the next entry-level iPad and iPhone SE 4.

In the latest leak, reputed leaker Evan Blass makes some interesting claims about some of Apple’s upcoming products, including their potential names and hardware.

For starters, the leaker claims the upcoming iPad Air models will pack the M3 Apple Silicon instead of the latest M4 silicon, which Bloomberg claimed a few weeks ago.

Bloomberg’s claim that Apple was jumping directly from M2 to M4 silicon made a lot of sense.

We have already passed over half of the life cycle of M4 silicon, which was first introduced with last year’s iPad Pro models, and if Apple wants its iPad Air models to catch up, it needs to skip a generation.

However, leaker Evan Blass refutes that claim with some official references stating that, in addition to offering the same 11- and 13-inch models as their predecessor, the new iPad Air models will pack the M3 silicon.

Apple’s strategy is likely to keep its top-end iPad Pro models as premium choices with the latest processors. Meanwhile, the iPad Air models will play second fiddle with an older-generation chip.

So, if you were waiting for Apple’s most powerful chip-packed iPad Air models, you need to rethink. If you want the latest and greatest from Apple, you may want to focus on the iPad Pro models.

Apple plans to launch the next entry-level iPad, M3 iPad Air, and iPhone SE 4 in March

Similarly, Evan Blass refutes another recent claim that the upcoming fourth-generation budget iPhone would be called the iPhone 16E instead of the iPhone SE 4

If Blass’s claim is accurate, Apple may want to maintain a clear distinction between its premium and budget iPhone lines by not associating it with the flagship iPhone 16 series.

The official document also mentions an unreleased iPad 11, likely suggesting that Apple may launch the device alongside the M3 iPad Air and iPhone SE 4, which isn’t surprising.

Either way, Apple is likely to announce its next budget and mid-range iPad models in March, along with the next entry-level iPhone SE.

However, we are unsure whether the company plans to announce through press releases or a dedicated media event.
