Apple is planning to raise the prices of its upcoming iPhones that are expected to launch this year, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal

However, the company is being careful not to make it appear that these price hikes are directly caused by US tariffs on Chinese imports.

Instead, Apple may attribute the higher prices to new features and design upgrades in the phones.

The ongoing trade tensions between the US and China have led to higher tariffs on products imported from China, and this is expected to cost Apple around $900 million in the third quarter of the year.

Despite this, Apple hasn’t publicly said whether these tariffs will affect the final cost of its products.

To reduce the impact of these tariffs, Apple has already started shifting more of its iPhone production from China to India.

Recently, the US and China agreed to a temporary 90-day pause on adding new tariffs while they continue trade negotiations.

Additionally, the US government has announced some tariff exemptions for tech products such as smartphones, laptops, and other electronics, though a 20% tariff still applies to many Chinese goods.

Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly preparing to release an ultra-thin iPhone model this year, which would be a noticeable change in design.

But the company’s even bigger plans are set for 2027, when it celebrates the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone.

According to recent reports, Apple might release a mostly glass, curved iPhone with no visible cutouts, such as the notch or camera hole that currently exists on most models.

This would be a significant redesign, similar to how Apple transformed the iPhone in 2017 with the iPhone X, marking its 10-year milestone.

However, for now, Apple is looking to increase iPhone 17 series prices while introducing sleek new designs.
