If you haven’t read the news in the past 24 hours and you were planning on getting the new Apple monitor, you might want to sit down and get a glass of water before reading this one.

Yesterday, Apple announced its long-awaited new Mac Pro at WWDC. The new Mac Pro will start at $5,999, which will undoubtedly be a big hit to your bank account. However, this price was not so surprising as this price is considered pretty normal for Mac Pro / iMac Releases (taking into account inflation).

The real surprise came when Apple unveiled its new 6K $4,999 monitor, called the Pro Display XDR

Which, again, is expensive, but whatever, it’s Apple and we’re used to this at this point. However, let’s look past that price tag and focus on the fact that the Pro Stand for the monitor costs an extra $1,000. Yes, $1,000 for a stand. Oh and the VESA Mount Adapter also costs an extra $199.

Yep, an extra $1,200 for accessories. I don’t get it either.

An Apple press release states that “The all-new Mac Pro starts at $5,999 and will be available to order in the fall,”  and it further goes on, “Pro Display XDR starts at $4,999, the Pro Stand is $999 and the VESA Mount Adapter is $199.”

The Pro Stand will allow you to spin your $6,000 monitor, which is cool, but it isn’t $1,000 cool.

What do you think? Suprised by this price? Can you justify spending a grand on a stand? Let us know down below in the comments or carry the discussion over to our Twitter or Facebook.
