Have you ever imagined traveling to a well-known avenue and shopping there, without leaving your chair? With Avenue Planet and the power of VR, you can.

Virtual Reality (VR) is one of the most popular technologies to recent hit that industry. Every day, new products appear for the sector – special devices, apps or even games that use this platform. The promise of transporting you to another world and generating unique experiences is really attractive, so this success is not surprising.

One of those apps promises to bring a whole new paradigm to the world of online shopping. Avenue Planet, a company based in Miami, has developed a platform (defined as an “experience hub”) aimed at VR platforms, which allows users to visit and shop in some of the world’s most popular and important avenues.

For the moment, this platform only supports Miami’s Lincoln Road, but the plan is to include 12 major avenues from around the world. With Avenue Planet, users will be able to visit those places as if they were there, thanks to the power of VR – and, in the future, Mixed Reality.

Sanjay Daswani, co-founder and CEO of Avenue Planet, believes this platform is quite unique and with the potential of being a true game-changer:

“Our VR content hub is going to change the world of entertainment. For the first time, users will be able to discover, browse and consume on impulse in the same way we do in the real world. Furthermore, having created the first true VR payment system to enable V-Commerce, users can transact on the platform creating a simple and intuitive user experience. Welcome to the digital revolution.”

By partnering with an array of stores, including Books & Books, Avant Gallery, and 24 Kilates, among others, Avenue Planet can also impact the industry of online shopping, as its platforms allows users to purchase items from those stores, right from inside their virtual tour of the avenues and stores.

Avenue Planet is available, for free, on Android devices and the Oculus Platform for Samsung Gear VR. In the near future, it will also support Google Daydream, Oculus Rift and other VR platforms. Android users can get the app from the Play Store, with the Oculus Platform version being available by invite, which can be requested here.
