This revolutionary speaker from Cotodama visualizes your music
The Cotodama lyric speaker isn’t your father’s karaoke machine.

Just a heads up, if you buy something through our links, we may get a small share of the sale. It’s one of the ways we keep the lights on here. Click here for more.
There’s no end of lyric-finding services for the music you listen to – but what if the lyrics responded to the type of music, as well? The Cotodama Lyric Speaker does just that, with music analysis technologies that were developed at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST).
When you choose a song on your mobile device, the built-in expression engine creates tailored motion graphics based on the tone of the song. If it’s an energetic song like EDM or rock, the lyrics display as strong and powerful. Conversely, if it’s a low-tempo indie track the lyrics come across as soft, both in fonts and movement.

Jin Saito, CEO of COTODAMA Inc, comments:
I believe music impacts hugely on people’s mind; it cheers you up when you are down or can get you in the mood for a big night out. Lyrics are one of the key elements that enable music to change emotions. I hope that more people can enjoy the power of lyrics and learn and appreciate more about their favorite songs through the Lyric speaker.
The speaker is hand-made in Japan, with only 15 of the devices produced per month. As you’d expect with such a boutique product, the price also matches – $4,500 per speaker.
