Epic Games is back at it with Apple. Court docs show they’re asking Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers to force Apple to put Fortnite back on the US App Store, according to The Verge.
This comes after a previous court ruling that put some limits on how Apple could punish Epic.
Epic’s argument is pretty straightforward: they claim Apple is straight-up ignoring the court’s previous order by keeping Fortnite banned. They’re basically telling the judge to make Apple follow its own rules – a classic “gotcha” move in this corporate cage match.
Let’s not forget why Fortnite got kicked off the App Store in the first place. Epic decided to add their own payment system, skipping Apple’s mandotory 30% cut on in-app purchases. Apple wasn’t having any of that and gave them the boot.
This fight between Epic and Apple isn’t just about one game. Reuters points out that whatever happens here could change how app stores work, how developers get their apps to users, and who gets to make money in the process.
The tech world is watching to see what Judge Gonzalez Rogers decides. Will Epic score a victory and force Apple to back down? Or will Apple hold the line? Either way, this battle royale is still going strong, and neither side looks ready to tap out.
Is Epic justified in demanding Fortnite’s return to the App Store, or is Apple right to stand its ground? Share your take in the comments or join the debate on our Facebook or Twitter!
