Epic Games has officially announced that Fortnite will permanently reintroduce its original battle royale map on December 6.
It will allow players to experience the map in its authentic Chapter 1 form, just like it was when first released back in September 2017.
This decision follows the success of a recent limited-time event featuring the “OG” map, which recreated the game’s original battle royale experience from Chapter 1.
This event, designed as a nostalgic throwback, proved immensely popular, attracting numerous former players who had stopped playing over the years.
The OG Fortnite map is coming back for good
For those unaware or new to the game, the previous Fortnite OG event was removed after the progression of Chapter 1, beginning from Season 5 and advancing through updates until Season X.
Given the positive reception of this mode, Epic Games decided to go further by permanently bringing it back.
However, unlike the previous limited-time mode, the permanent Fortnite OG mode will start from the beginning: Chapter 1, Season 1.
This addition marks a significant change, as players will now be able to explore the earliest version of the map without the constraints of a time-limited event.
In this upcoming permanent mode, players will have access to the original loot and points of interest from Chapter 1, including iconic locations like Pleasant Park, Loot Lake, Tomato Town, and Retail Row.
While many famous points of interest are making a comeback, Tilted Towers, one of Fortnite’s most popular points of interest, will likely be absent initially, as it was introduced in Season 2 of Chapter 1, not Season 1.
Regardless, fans of the original Fortnite experience will be able to relive the game’s early days at any time.
Meanwhile, players interested in new content can continue enjoying Fortnite’s ongoing seasons, which will keep updating with new maps, items, and seasonal changes.
