Next month, Playstation Plus subscribers will only get two games added to their library of free games, probably due to PlayStation deciding to no longer offer PS3 or PS Vita titles in the monthly selection of free games. Still, even with half the games that Microsoft is offering in March, I still think PlayStation Plus subscribers are getting a better deal.
Remember, to enjoy these games you’ll need an active PlayStation Plus membership. If your subscription lapses, you will be unable to access the games you’ve downloaded.
Free PlayStation Plus games for March 2019
This month, the seminal
joins the PlayStation Plus lineup. When it was originally released in 2007, British Special Air Service (SAS) recruit Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish won the hearts and minds of a generation of console gamers. The remastered version was created after fan pressure, keeping faithful to the campaign while introducing an updated multiplayer with elements from more recent titles in the series. Oh, and there is that Lockheed AC-130 gunship level, which is just masterful. The remaster is also in dynamic 4K if you own a PS4 Pro, so don’t miss out on grabbing a modern classic.
The head-scratching first-person puzzler, The Witness, also joins the lineup in March. The beautiful setting teaches you how to solve over 500 puzzles, with difficulties ranging from simple ones that teach the mechanics of the game to real hour-long slogs though hidden symbols and about the nature of puzzles themselves. Highly recommended.
Both titles will be available to download from PlayStation Store from March 5 to April 1, 2019.
Also, remember that PS3 and PS Vita games won’t be part of the monthly free games line-up anymore. If you haven’t added the following PS3 and PS Vita titles from the February games line-up to your library yet, they will remain available until March 8, 2019:
- Divekick, PS3 (Cross-Buy with PS Vita)
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, PS3
- Gunhouse, PS Vita (Cross-Buy with PS4)
- , PS Vita (Cross-Buy with PS4)
Any PS3 and PS Vita games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019, won’t be affected by this change. Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member. Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same.
