OpenAI has released a powerful new image generation tool called gpt-image-1, and it’s already creating a buzz.

This tool, which can now be accessed through OpenAI’s API, is part of a broader upgrade to ChatGPT’s image capabilities. The company announced this in a blog post

It can produce a wide range of images, from beautiful Studio Ghibli-style illustrations to intentionally plain or quirky visuals like boring dolls.

Because it’s built into a model that understands both text and visuals together (a multimodal model), it’s incredibly flexible.

This means the model isn’t just good at making pretty pictures, it can follow specific instructions, use its understanding of the world, and even include readable text in its images.

These features open up endless creative and professional uses.

Big companies are adopting ChatGPT’s image generator tool

Big companies are already jumping on board. Adobe, for example, is adding this tech to its creative platforms like Firefly and Express.

That means users can easily explore different styles and experiment with visuals directly within Adobe’s tools, something that’s valuable for artists, marketers, and everyday users looking to spice up their content.

Figma, a popular design platform, is also integrating gpt-image-1. Starting now, users can create and edit images in Figma just by typing prompts.

They can change the style of an image, add or remove items, or extend the background, all within the design app.

This makes it much easier and faster for designers to try new ideas without switching tools.

Other companies like Canva, GoDaddy, and Instacart are also exploring how they can use this technology in their platforms.

OpenAI says more features and integration options are on the way, including broader API support.

Thus, OpenAI’s image generator is not just for artists, it’s becoming a practical tool for businesses and developers to add visual creativity to their apps and services.
