I have been a major supporter of the Valkyrie Profile series and have often taken the opportunity to share the gospel of the series whenever the opportunity arises. Unfortunately, for an entire decade, there hasn’t been any sort of indication that Square Enix had any interest in visiting their JRPG series. Last month, the Japanese version of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius had a tie-in event, which was a little odd since there wasn’t anything actively going on with the franchise, leaks to the game indicated the Global version of the game would be getting this tie-in as well. Everyone assumed that this was because the series is quite beloved, turns out it may have been an appetizer for much bigger things.
As of today, March 2nd, Square Enix’s YouTube channel uploaded a 2018 teaser trailer. Nothing else has been said about the game at all as of yet, but it appears to feature a pensive Lenneth debating her role.
She says in Japanese:
You have the right to live. I am the one who selects souls. Did I choose human souls with a feeling like plucking flowers!? What is a Battle Maiden!? Am I a Goddess of Death?
With some early E3 teasers hitting social media today, I may just have a hunch about when we will find out more about Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. With any luck, we’ll be seeing a better remake than Secret of Mana got, but even if it is dumbed down a bit, it’s still a game worth checking out.
Then again, it could be just an HD emulation too.
Who knows?
